The White Stampede

Across the
Steel and
Pewter plain
The Stampede
Of White
Stallion
Manes
Rises
And Falls,
Driven before
The bite
Of
October’s
Savage
Beast

As I was driving south toward Lake Washington this afternoon, I saw the white-capped waves rising and falling across Lake Washington.  The power to drive such an enormous mass of water before it, in the child October wind, caught my eye.  Like a stampede, where the identity of each horse fades into the wild dance, is the vision that came to me.  I love recognizing the glorious drama of creation that so many pass by.

Feeling It

Water’s cool embrace
Shows its love
While massaging shins
Wrapping itself around my calves
In refreshing embrace

Chill droplets
Dot sun-baked skin
While refreshed by
Rushing through
Salty breeze

Vibrated fingertips
Skimming liquid Vs
While foam roars overhead
Curved ocean plane
Reflecting self

Humming
Enveloped in shiny pipeline
While powerful Poseidon’s hand
Stirs air into translucent
Green swirls

Exhausted
Smiling skyward
While sands lovingly abrade
Day spinning happily toward
Cool retire
